Relax . . . Your Eyes!

Got your headphones and five minutes?
Here's a simple daily routine that calms your mind and vision - sit back in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed; it's time to learn what it's really like to relax your eyes . . .

Relaxation.

Nothing else matters.

Your eyes are more busy than ever before. Our modern, complex, world places continuous and unusual demands on the visual system, and it is easy to fall into cultural visual habits of overuse and misuse. Unnecessary effort is applied to the eyes and mind with such consistency that the strain of this escapes awareness. So pervasive is this state that when someone says:

'Relax . . .'

. . . it is rarely fully understood.

So, in a few moments we are going to go on a simple journey where you start to learn how to stop. How to let your mind and vision, truly, let go. First, you will be simply looking at objects near and far, and then . . .

. . . but that's enough reading. If you've got your five minutes, your headphones, and a quiet place; you're ready to go!

A few tips to get the most out of this visual and mental relaxation:

  • Listen to the recording once a day for a few days – it tends to be cumulative in effect, and deepens in meaning as you become familiar with the process.
  • Simply looking at things without judgement can feel unusual. Thats okay.
  • You can apply this visual approach at any time throughout your day.
  • There isn't a waking moment that your eyes are not looking at something.
